He is part of a unique generation, along with the likes of rappers such as Wiz Khalifa and Kid Cudi, who gained prominence through the release of internet mixtapes. Drake is also credited for bringing his city of Toronto to prominence in the music industry, and helped found the “Toronto sound,” inspired by Drake’s idols such as Kanye West and Jay-Z.
